About the University of Lausanne - UNIL - Université de Lausanne
The University of Lausanne is a higher teaching and research institution composed of seven faculties where approximately 14,300 students and 3,000 researchers work and study. UNIL is focused on several academic disciplines, especially Medicine, Life Sciences, Geosciences, Environment, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. An emphasis is placed on an interdisciplinary approach, with close cooperation between students, teaching staff, and professors. For more information, see: http://www.unil.ch/central/en/home.html About the Centre for Gender Studies (CEG) - Centre en études genre CEG - Etudes genre UNIL In 2001, researchers from the University of Lausanne created the LIEGE, the first scientific network on gender studies in western Switzerland. The network was particularly active in supporting young researchers wishing to integrate a gender perspective into their scientific projects. It also created a space for collective reflection, inter-university and interdisciplinary work, and a connection with civil society. Over the years, the LIEGE has contributed to the recognition of gender studies and the progress of gender equality in universities. The creation of the Centre for Gender Studies (CEG) in February 2008 gives recognition to the work done by the LIEGE and helps secure the position of gender studies at UNIL. It also promotes the integration of Unil researchers in national and international networks (http://www.unil.ch/ceg/home.html). As a research unit housed within the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS), the CEG aims to develop research on gender in social sciences, to nurture interdisciplinary dialogue in Gender Studies through the coordination of research activities, and to provide scientific guidance to the students who wish to integrate gender studies in their academic curriculum and / or adopt a gender perspective in their research. Beyond Unil, the CEG is actively involved in the development of gender studies at the national and international level. The CEG organized the 6th International Congress of Francophone feminist research in 2012. It also houses the production and dissemination of the French version of the platform Switzerland Gender Campus. About the Institute for Political, Historical and International Studies (IEPHI) The IEPHI is the Institute for Political, Historical and International Studies of the University of Lausanne. It is attached to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and includes hundreds of employees, with about 25 faculty members, including 14 professors engaged in many Swiss and European research projects. It brings together the main fields of research of political science in 5 research groups:
