Pär Zetterberg is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. His research focuses mainly on political recruitment and political representation in a comparative perspective (mostly on, but not restricted to, Latin American countries). Particular attention is paid to the examination of the long-term possibilities for electoral gender quotas to break gender inequalities in politics. Theoretically, he draws on various bodies of literature in political science, e.g. political representation, political party/candidate selection literature, legislative behavior, and political participation. He is also interested in research on the adoption of gender equality policies more broadly as well as on how young people develop political beliefs, attitudes and behavior, respectively. In particular, I pay attention to the role of educational institutions, and school environment characteristics, in developing political citizenship.
