Isabelle Engeli

Isabelle Engeli (i.engeli@bath.ac.uk) is a Reader at the University of Bath. She was previously Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (2011-2015), University of Ottawa and Max Weber Fellow at the EUI. Her current research specializes on gendering policy agendas and government attention across Western Europe and North America and human biotechnology regulatory regimes. Her works appears in the European Journal of Political Research, West European Politics, Journal of European Public Policy, Regulation & Governance and the Revue Française de Science Politique. Isabelle is the co-recipient the 2012 APSA Best Comparative Policy Paper Award and the 2011 Carrie Chapman Catt Prize. She is founding co-chair of the Council for European Studies Research Network on Gender and Sexuality Studies together with David Paternotte.

Elizabeth Evans

Elizabeth Evans (e.evans@gold.ac.uk) is a Senior Lecturer in Politics at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she teaches courses on feminist, gender and identity politics. She was previously a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Bristol. Her work explores the interaction between gender, feminist activism and political representations in formal and informal locations, and has been funded by the ESRC and British Academy. Her latest book (The Politics of Third Wave Feminisms) analysed debates and developments within feminism and activism in the US and UK, providing a theoretical and empirical analysis of the impact of intersectionality and neoliberalism on feminist engagement with the state. She has published widely on the gendered dimensions of descriptive, substantive and symbolic political representation and explored the role for feminist politics within political parties in both the US and UK. Her work has analyzed the limitations of formal politics for advancing women’s interests and has highlighted the multiple sites in which feminist interests are (re)created and contested for more see her website www.elizabethjaneevans.com Liz is a past co-convener, and is currently the treasurer, of the UK’s PSA Women and Politics group and she is also a member of the PSA's Equality and Diversity Group.


Call for co-convenors of the ECPR Standing Group on Gender & Politics (ECPG)
 
ECPG are looking for new co-convenors!
 
We are looking for three dynamic, engaged individuals with a commitment to supporting the European-wide community of gender and politics scholars, and to further developing the advancement of the study of gender and politics within Europe.
 
Specifically, we are looking for:
 
One early career researcher convenor, duties to include: co-chairing the ECPG section of the ECPR annual general conference; leading the organization of the mentoring activities for the ECPG biennial conference; and maintaining the group’s online presence.  

Two full convenors
, duties to include: co-convening the ECPG biennial conference; co-chairing the ECPG section of the ECPR annual general conference; communicating with members; working closely with ECPR; maintaining the group’s online presence.  

Qualifications for the early career researcher convenor:

A Europe-based gender and politics scholar nearing the end of their PhD or someone currently undertaking a post doc  Someone whose research activities and interests are well integrated into the European Gender and Politics community and the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics with regular participation at ECPG, ECPR joints sessions and the ECPR General Conference (Gender & Politics section).  The convener should be able to attend the annual ECPR General Conference as well as ECPG.  

Qualifications for the two convenors:
 PhD in political science or a related discipline  A research focus within the field of gender & politics with research activities that are well integrated into the European Gender and Politics community and the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics with regular participation at ECPG, ECPR joints sessions and the ECPR General Conference (Gender & Politics section).  A Europe-based permanent/tenure track post or a fixed appointment with an academic institution between September 2017 – September 2019  The conveners should be able to attend the annual ECPR General Conference as well as ECPG.  
 
Incentives!
This is an excellent opportunity for gender and politics scholars to build their leadership skills and to develop their networks, both within the gender and politics field, but also within the wider ECPR community. ECPG has a limited budget but will cover the flights (within Europe) and accommodation costs for convenors to attend the biennial ECPG conference. It is an important role and one that is vital for our growing and diverse community.

During the selection process we will heed the diversity of scholars in the ECPG group.
